St Petersburg Russia - Russian icon
Russian icon s are very popular items among tourists. There are two local church
stores that have these items in stock. Certainly nobody expects tourists to share Russian
Orthodox faith and these stores do not advertise to tourists. But they make a very nice
decoration for the room and bring a new spirit.
Those stores are off tourists trails. Icons are NOT antique and without
restrictions at border crossing. The icons represent a particular Russian Orthodox
saint-patron(s) of a distinct area of living. St George is a patron of the military man;
St. Nikolai is a fast helper and protector etc. There are many more and every icon comes
with an instruction.
Tell us what area you wish to protect and we will have
the icon up on your arrival. Some are hand painted icons and others are professionally
manufactured. But regardless of what you choose the church store not a tourist market is
the best place to make a selection
One can also order a church service in one of the famous active cathedrals of
the St Petersburg: Nikolski or Alexandra Nevski. The services can be order at your
presence of in your absence.
